My Journey… Making Headway!

When I started my journey to the Mage’s College, I weighed as much as I ever had in my life, my blood pressure was so high that my doctor was going to prescribe medication, and I didn’t feel quite… right. Fortunately when I got there, I was given a chance to try plant magic as a way to eat better, without having to use the old tricks of denial and relying on my willpower to help me change to a healthier diet.

I learned from the other mages that being full and satisfied with what you eat are great motivators, and that the difference it has made for me has been obvious. I am more active, my blood pressure is down in normal ranges, and I have lost a significant amount of weight. While overall health is my main goal, some of the other changes- like losing weight- have helped me recover from injuries and other would-be setbacks, and have kept me moving forward.

My transition to plant magic was (and is) slow, so I still have some cheese in my recipes. I am always looking for alternatives and make those dishes in moderation. If you have alternatives that you like and enjoy, I would love to hear about them!

I don’t claim to have a solution for anyone other than myself, but with these recipes I hope to share food that will leave you feeling full, and enable you to eat with joy! For too long my interactions with food were colored by guilt and negative pressure. That my love of food would be a strong force for helping me become healthier was a wonderful surprise, and I hope I can pass on some of what I have picked up along the way!

I am inspired by many friends and acquaintances who have worked hard and overcome the metabolism shift that many of us faced after college, and still love hearing stories of how people became healthier and happier with their bodies at any size! I will update as I reach milestones- starting with my current status: I have had three consecutive normal blood pressure readings in a row, and am down 80 90 100 pounds from when I started making one meatless meal a week back in July of 2013. It’s been a long, slow, steady progression towards health, but I’m definitely making headway!

A long journey
